Losers

Tom Costello

The Brattleboro attorney and former state representative announced his bid for lieutenant governor.

Nate Freeman

Though he was the first member of his party to jump in this cycle's lieutenant governor race, the recent announcement of fellow Democrat Tom Costello will force Freeman, the less experienced of the two candidates, to mount a campaign for the September primary.

Kathleen Ramsay

Killington's new town manager takes over the job after the retirement of 32 year veteran Dave Lewis.

Matthew Manning

The 22-year-old Northfield resident is charged with simple assault after hitting Gov. Jim Douglas in the face with a cream pie as he marched in the Montpelier Independence Day parade. Fleeing the scene, Manning was then tackled by Barre Mayor Thomas Lauzon.

Vermont Tubbs workers

The ailing furniture maker plans to let go of its Brandon plant along with all of its almost 90 employees.

Jim Fitzgerald

The St. Albans state representative is calling it quits. Fitzgerald expressed his frustration over the legislature's inaction on "Jessica's law" in a letter to the editor of the Saint Albans Messenger. He wrote: "Today I hang my head in shame as a member of the Vermont legislature."
