Tarrant’s Former Ad Man Steps in for Mark McKinnon with McCain
This week Mark McKinnon, John McCain’s Ad-guru, told National Public Radio that if Obama is elected he would have to step down from his post with McCain because he couldn’t run any negative ads against Obama whom he respects and admires. Mr. McKinnon became famous as a former Democrat went to run the media campaign that got George W. Bush elected. McKinnon continued by saying that he would continue to support McCain 100%. Yet with an Obama win looking more a more likely it looks like the McCain camp is making a change now.
To fill the void of McKinnon on the McCain campaign has asked Fred Davis of Strategic Perception to step in. Now, Fred Davis may not be a house hold name in Vermont but his work is. Mr. Davis built those ads for Rich Tarrant with all those Vermonters saying tough things about Good-ole Bernie and then had the screen fill with his voting record. They didn’t go over well in Vermont, but the McCain camp can be sure that Mr. Davis won’t have the same issues as Mr. McKinnon. We predict that Barrack Obama will likely be calling Bernie this week.

John McCainMcCain’s appearance shows a commitment to the Northeast and will in the long term be a help for the Governor. McCain’s independent style will help Republicans across the board in Vermont with him at the top of the ticket. |
Hillary ClintonHer skipping of Vermont is a poor sign. Or yet a clearer sign that her campaign is stumbling and needs Texas and Ohio badly. |
Barack ObamaOpening offices in Vermont shows a similar commitment to Vermont’s delegates. |
