Pat Leahy vs. Jim Douglas

We Vermonters like our familiar faces. Jim Douglas, aka Governor Scissorhands, is not the face of a Vermonter who is associated with national accomplishment and gains for Vermont, as is Pat Leahy. Pat is one of the most powerful leaders in Washington, respected internationally for his work on the Judiciary Committee. He is also a member of the Agriculture and Appropriations committees, where his work has benefited many Vermonters.

Jim would garner many a Republican vote that would like to see national Democrats unseated. But the larger numbers of Democratic, Progressive and Independent voters in Vermont are too well informed to think that glad-handing Jim would be as competent a national representative for Vermont as is Pat Leahy.
