Costello projected to win Democratic primary for lieutenant governor

Thomas Costello of Brattleboro is projected to win Vermont's Democratic primary for lieutenant governor.

With 45 percent of all precincts reporting, the Associated Press declared Costello's victory shortly after 8:30 this evening. Costello, 63, had received 61 percent of all votes, while his challenger Nate Freeman, 40, managed to earn 39 percent of all votes.

Costello will square off against Republican incumbent Brian Dubie in the general election.
