John Edwards admission that he lied and dismissed reports of an affair with Rielle Hunter, a filmmaker hired to cover his presidential campaign, may have ended his public life, but did it also signify an end to the era in which the mainstream media controlled the agenda for national political journalism?

Sen. Bernard Sanders will be a guest on “The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central this evening, the Times Argus reports.

"Network news viewing is down. People reading newspapers is down and a lot of people, especially young people, are somewhat skeptical, I think, of corporate media, and mainstream media and are going to Comedy Central to get a perception of life that fits their reality," Sanders tells the paper.

With Gov. Jim Douglas releasing his economic stimulus plan late last week, Vermont Republicans and Democrats exchanged attacks over the weekend on the plan.
