UPDATED: Scrutinizing Galbraith's VPR interview

The formal launch of Progressive Anthony Pollina’s gubernatorial campaign was the subject of a Vermont Public Radio report Wednesday morning.

But the story also features a quote from potential Democrat Peter Galbraith, who is considering jumping into the race.

``One of the factors that will weigh in my thinking are the prospects of success and also where can I make the best contribution,” Galbraith tells VPR’s Ross Sneyd. I've just been in the last week in Iraq, where things are beginning to unravel. This is obviously an area of expertise, as is Pakistan, another part of the world that I've dealt with.''

Vermont Democratic Party executive director Jill Krowinski says that Galbraith was not revealing his thinking about whether to join the race, but rather describing his recent trip to the region.

UPDATE:

Vermont Progressive Party executive director Morgan Daybell is weighing in on Galbraith's interview.

"Based on the meetings held across the state, the letters appearing in newspapers, and the number of names behind Democrats for Pollina, it is clear that rank and file Democrats are interested in hearing Anthony's message about what Vermont could be under a new administration," says Daybell. "I hope, now that Galbraith seems to be favoring other options, that their party’s leadership will also consider listening to Anthony."
