Progressives give Pollina unanimous endorsement

Gubernatorial candidate Anthony Pollina won the unanimous endorsement of the Progressive Party at the Party’s State Committee meeting Sunday in Montpelier.

The voting process consisted of a voice vote, says Progressive Party executive director Morgan Daybell.

The text of the endorsement, as obtained by PolitickerVT.com:

“Whereas Anthony Pollina has worked with Vermonters for 30 years to give them a voice to help them improve their lives and livelihoods, and to promote sustainable economic and agricultural development, energy efficiency, and alternative energy sources;

“Whereas Anthony Pollina has worked with Vermont farmers and Vermont and Federal legislators to create and implement the current use program of property tax relief and a fair federal system of dairy pricing;

“Whereas Anthony Pollina has worked with Vermont farmers to found Rural Vermont and Dairy Farmers of Vermont, and has cofounded the Vermont Milk Company, a farmer owned dairy processing plant which pays dairy farmers a fair price for their product; 

“Whereas Anthony Pollina has been a strong advocate for labor, and has led efforts to lower the cost of health care, to advocate for livable wages, to help laid off workers gain extended benefits through Trade Adjustment Assistance;

“Whereas Anthony Pollina has been an opponent of nuclear power and has helped to organize actions for clean water and other environmental issues;

“Whereas Anthony Pollina has been a strong voice for lowering the cost of college tuition, for prison reform, and for alternatives for young people;

“Now, therefore, the State Committee of the Vermont Progressive Party does hereby endorse Anthony Pollina for the Office of Governor of Vermont.”
