Douglas airs first television campaign ad

Gov. Jim Douglas (R-Middlebury) has begun airing his first campaign ad today.

The ad is a 30-second television spot which focuses on Douglas’ efforts to build a stronger economy in Vermont.

“As the national economy slows, Vermonters are struggling to keep pace with rising fuel and food prices,” Douglas said.

The campaign claims Douglas’ agenda has focused on good job opportunities, creating more affordable homes and reducing the cost of living in Vermont.

It finishes with the line “I really believe that during the next couple years I can continue to make a difference to assure hope and opportunity and prosperity for the families of Vermont.”

Douglas is running for re-election against Democratic House Speaker Gaye Symington (D-Jericho) and Independent candidate Anthony Pollina.
