Douglas set to endorse McCain

Governor Jim Douglas is set to endorse Republican presidential candidate John McCain, the Burlington Free Press is reporting.

The paper also reports that Douglas will campaign for McCain Monday in Hanover, New Hampshire, just one day before primary voters in that state head to the polls.

"John McCain is a principled leader whose character, judgment and experience make him the best prepared to lead this country on day one," Douglas said. "John McCain is a reformer who is willing to stand up for taxpayers and against the special interests. I am proud to support his candidacy."

"The people of Vermont are privileged to have Jim leading their state," McCain said. "I am honored to have his support, and I look forward to working with Jim as we continue my campaign for the presidency."
