Dems hit Douglas on lobbyist

The Vermont Democratic Party is slamming Republican Governor Jim Douglas over the lobbyist issue.

“The underlying premise of hiring the purportedly well-connected Republican D.C. lobbyist was because Jim Douglas, who claims to be a personal friend of the president, was unable to leverage his friendship to garner the federal resources Vermont needs for its social programs,” said Party Chair Ian Carleton. “Vermonters now have a right to know what Jim Douglas achieved by spending taxpayer dollars on a supposedly high-powered D.C. lobbyist. Were there any results? Or was he merely feathering the nest of his fellow Republicans?”
