Democrats take early steps to target Caledonia House, Senate seats

Democrats, beginning the early planning for this fall’s legislative races, say they are setting their sights on House and Senate seats in Caledonia County.

This weekend, Democratic organizers held a laying-the-groundwork meeting in Lyndon. And party insiders say they are pleased with the response: 93 Caledonia Democrats ventured out into rough weather to attend the annual Cabin Fever brunch . Joining them was State Senator Jane Kitchell and Rep. John Rodgers. Democrats from the state party and from Essex, Lamoille, Orange, and Orleans counties were also in attendance.

“There was lots of excitement over the presidential campaigns and candidates running for House and Senate,” said Vermont Democratic Party executive director Jill Krowinski, who attended the event.

Representatives Leigh Larocque, Donald Bostic, Howard Crawford, Richard Lawrence, Steve Larrabee currently make up a Republican majority of House seats in Caledonia County. Also representing the county is Republican Senator George Coppenrath.

Democrats believe they have opportunities to pick off some of those seats.

“We hope to pick up a couple of House Seats and a Senate Seat in Caledonia County,” says Krowinski.

Where is "Caldonia" County?

Ummm if you were from Vermont you would know that it is spelled "Caledonia", not "Caldonia".

Misspelled four times in this post. At least it was spelled correctly in the quote at the very end. I enjoy this blog but credibility will be tough to earn if you don't know Vermont's 14 counties and how to spell them correctly!
